What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Surveys

We may conduct surveys to understand what visitors think and feel about the art they view. Completion of surveys represents your consent to participate in research. Your participation is 100% voluntary. No personally identifying information will be shared publicly. If prize draws are involved, email addresses will be collected and used to contact winners.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. After approval of your comment, your name/alias is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Anonymized comments may be analyzed as part of research to evaluate the impact of the website. If you do not feel comfortable with this, please do not leave a comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

ANALYTICS

This site uses Google Analytics for research purposes to evaluate the reach and effectiveness of the site. These tools work by tagging web pages to capture a limited amount of data (including the IP address of the device being used to access the pages). These data are used for aggregate reporting purposes. It cannot be used by UNSW Sydney or the service provider to identify you.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you leave a comment or fill out a survey, the information and its metadata are retained indefinitely. We also store the personal information you provide in your submission such as your name/alias and email. Your email address will not be published.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments or filled out a survey, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
